Public Service and the pay issue

The refusal by this Government to address the issue of the public service pay is causing an unnecessary divide amongst public and private sector workers. One can understand the reluctance of various Trade Unions to contemplate pay and job cuts when just months ago an increase was negotiated. 

However times have changed radically and now the Government must follow the example being shown by the private sector where straight talking and honesty has resulted in many companies taking whatever corrective action is required in order to ensure survival and protect as many existing jobs as possible. We are served well by those employed in our Public Service and I have no doubt that they are anxious to play their part in this countrys recovery. 

Lets stop blaming people who still have not been asked to play their part.
